Njal Rollinson grew up in the Midland and Penetanguishene region, and became fond of reptiles and amphibians while mucking around in places like Wye Marsh, Tiny Marsh, and his own backyard. Now a professor at the University of Toronto, his research is in the field of Evolutionary Ecology (the evolution of traits in an ecological context) but blends various fields, especially Animal Behaviour and Conservation. His work combines long-term monitoring, field and lab experiments, and metadata to explore the evolution of life histories and reptile vocalizations, as well as responses to climate change. His aim is to push forward our understanding of life histories and life cycles while conserving our planet’s biodiversity.
