Annual bird Count followed by a Potluck Christmas dinner at the Wye Marsh Wildlife Centre
Free. Please contact [email protected] to register
It's beginning to look a lot like it's time for the annual Christmas Bird Count and our Christmas Party Potluck with its Mystery Christmas Gift Auction in support of the Owl Foundation of Vineland.
Our Bird Count Coordinator David Schandlen has the areas assigned and teams organized and ready to go for the big day Saturday Dec. 16th. If anyone would still like to join as a field counter, contact David ([email protected] 705 527 8644 cell 705 526 8320 home) and he'll do his best to add you to one of the teams.
If anyone would like to be a registered Feeder Watcher and count birds from your home within our count circle (see attached) or be a Feeder Host and have our Field Counters visit your feeders, send an email to mpfieldnaturalists@gmail. com and we'll send you the instructions about how to join and support the count.
Once the counting is done, we party with our Christmas Party Potluck/Bird Count Wrap Up at the Wye Marsh.
We'll have the Marsh doors open at 5:30 PM so we can start our Potluck at 6 PM. Bring your own plates and cutlery along with your contribution to the feast. The club will brew up some coffee and tea.
Once we're well fed, Count Coordinator Dave Schandlen and the Team leaders will give the results of the day's counting efforts.
After that business is taken care of, we'll move on to our annual Holly and Mistletoe Mystery Christmas Gift Auction for the Owls. The MPFN Club has been raising funds for the Owl Foundation for many years with this auction that puts the fun into fundraising. Bring your anonymous mystery gifts, festively wrapped with a cryptic poem or riddle subtly hinting or perhaps misleading as to the contents. Attendees will then bid accordingly with the gift going to the highest bidder and the proceeds going to the owls. Win Win!
Remember, the Christmas Party Potluck is not just for the Bird Count Counters. All are welcome! We hope to see everyone there.
And if we don't see you - Merry Christmas from the MPFN!
